Our Board of Management

Viewpoint is governed by a voluntary Board whose members provide a very unique depth and breadth of experience, skills and expertise. The Board oversees our strategic direction and makes sure we work in the best interests of our customers. It includes tenants and professionals with experience from across a range of areas. 

Robert Rae (Chairman)
Robert was a Director of several companies in food manufacturing and processing and latterly Spillers Milling Group. Robert thereafter worked for Caledonia Investments running Edinburgh Crystal, Caithness, Selkirk Glass and Pimpernel International Ltd. In 2005 he set up his own Business Advisory service.

Gordon Anderson
Gordon was elected as a full member of the Board at the 2010 AGM having served as a co-optee since April 2009. Gordon has a keen interest in all aspects of care and housing provision across all sectors.

Ann Cumber
Ann is a Chartered Architect with over 20 years’ experience as a project architect. Her work has varied from small scale domestic projects, one off houses, social housing, refurbishment and redevelopment of listed buildings, hotels, swimming pools, leisure facilities and retail projects.
Ann is currently studying for a MSc in Construction Project Management at Heriot-Watt University.

Nicola Donaldson
Nicki has 23 years experience in social housing, with 14 of these in a senior manager capacity. She worked with Dundee City Council for 17 years before moving to Home Scotland Housing Association. She is currently Chief Executive of Fife Housing Association. Nicki has a detailed knowledge of social housing, legislation, policy and governance and her key strengths are in her leadership and management skills. Nicki is a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing and the Chartered Management Institute.

Jacqueline Macrae
Jackie qualified as a nurse in 1982 and has experience working in the NHS and charity sectors. Jackie’s qualifications include a degree in Nursing and Health Studies, a Masters in Human Resource Management and she is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. Jackie has recently started studying towards a Doctor of Nursing at Stirling University and currently works as Head of Quality of Care at Healthcare Improvement Scotland.

Robert McNeill
Robert has worked in the Electricity Supply Industry for almost 35 years. His background is finance, although he has experience in human resources, health and safety, environmental issues and industrial relations. Robert has previously been a local councillor and is involved in various community groups. He has been a member of the Management Committee of East Lothian Housing Association for 20 years and held the position of chair for 5 years and vice chair also for 5 years.

Jean Simpson
Jean recently retired as Housing Support Co-ordinator with Viewpoint and is now a Viewpoint tenant. Prior to coming into the sheltered housing and support sector, Jean was an Accountant with Stevenson College and was also Finance Administrator with Citizen’s Advice Scotland. Jean has been involved in various voluntary areas with prisoners, children and the church and has a wide range of experience with people in these areas.

Roger Stewart
Roger is well aware of Viewpoint as a long-standing and well respected local charity. He has no special knowledge of the care professions, but has considerable knowledge of best practice in corporate governance in a charity, and experience in managing a business.

Vic Stewart
Vic is a Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner with experience in the NHS and the charity sector. He is a former senior management in the management of IT operations, market testing, facilities management contracts and transition management.

Iain Thompson
Iain attended Edinburgh Academy and read Maths at Cambridge before joining ICL (International Computers Ltd) as a graduate trainee. Iain worked in software development in London 7 years before moving back to Dalkeith to work with ICL as a Software Project Manager. He then joined the Distillers Company Limited in the IT group as Programme Manager and then End User Support Manager. Following this, he joined the FI Group as Support Manager in the Financial Service area and has worked with a number of clients in the Financial Services sector since then. Iain also has a voluntary role with BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT.
