Danny Rankin from the Buchan Gardens Tenants Group says: On Thursday 16th August 12 members of Buchan Gardens Tenants Group went on a mini bus drive. The bus was hired from Fife Council and driven by Danny Rankin of our group. We initially set off from Buckhaven to 'The Kelpies'. This was booked in advance with a time slot so there would be no waiting at the venue. When we arrived we were given a very interesting talk about the Kelpies which explained what they were and why they were positioned where they are. We then walked up to the sculptures and were then welcomed inside. More details were given about The Kelpies and we were in awe of the huge size of the structures from the inside. Once outside we took the oppertunity to have a few group photographs taken.
Back into the bus and then on to The Falkirk Wheel. As before we had pre-booked and had a time slot for boarding the barge. We just made our time slot and enjoyed the trip on the wheel and through a tunnel to the canal basin on the other side. As the barge was proceeding through the wheel and tunnel we were given an insight into how the wheel came about and the history of the Forth and Clyde Canal. Our group thoroughly enjoyed the trip and were soon back on the bus for the next stage of our drive.
After a short detour we finally made it to the Brewers Fayre at Skinflats where we all had a very tasty meal. We all had loads to talk about our day out during the meal. Once fully fed we then journeyed home. Everyone had a great day out and can't wait until the next one.
